LOW-LIGHT PLANTS

Take it from this Seattle girl: I know all too well the woes of living in a home with low light. Seven to eight months out of the year, we struggle to find sun around here. Here are a few plants that are perfectly low maintenance and don’t require a ton of natural light:

+ ZZ PLANT | Boasting a uniquely shaped, waxy leaf, the ZZ plant is a favorite and is hearty to the core. It doesn’t ask for much—just a little water and light every now and then.

+ INDOOR PALM VARIETIES | There are so many options, but try going for a smaller variety like Parlor or Ponytail varieties.

+ BOSTON FERN | A great traditional option that needs humidity and mist but functions well indoors and doesn’t need a ton of attention. Just be sure to keep the dead fronds pruned and this one should be happy for years.

+ MONSTERA | This plant gives the space a light tropical feel but will not overwhelm it like the palm.

+ PRAYER PLANT | This beauty is variegated, offers color and texture, and is low maintenance.
